Introduction: In recent years, driven by the Internet of things and 5G communication vision, the mobile computing model has begun to shift from centralized cloud computing to marginal computing. Edge computing pushes mobile computing, network control and storage to the edge of the network in order to realize computation-intensive and delay-sensitive applications on mobile devices with limited resources. However, due to the high mobility of terminal devices, the emergence of many new applications and the use of heterogeneous wireless networks, the network management and resource allocation of edge computing platforms are faced with severe challenges. It is worth noting that with the further development of artificial intelligence technology in recent years, the above problems can be solved by using machine learning methods. The combination of edge computing and artificial intelligence will bring rich and extensive applications and expected benefits, making academia and industry begin to invest a lot of energy in the research and development of corresponding technologies. This report mainly discusses the interaction between artificial intelligence and edge computing technology, that is, artificial intelligence is not only a kind of emerging application of edge network, but also a key technology to solve the problems of edge network management and resource allocation. This report will further introduce the latest progress in network management and resource allocation by using artificial intelligence technology, and discuss how to use edge computing technology to provide artificial intelligence services to edge network users to realize emerging applications of the Internet of Things. The final report will give future research directions and key challenges in this field.

Prof. Ai-pang received his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctor's degrees from Jiao Tong University in 1996, 1998 and 2002 respectively. In 2002, he joined the Computer Science and Information Engineering Department of Taiwan University and started his research work. Now he is the professor and vice dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of Taiwan University. Prof. Ai-pang served as dean of the Graduate School of Networking and Multimedia from 2013 to 2016. He was an associate professor at the Institute of Communication Engineering, Taiwan University and an associate researcher at the Information Technology Innovation Research Center, Academia Sinica. Her research interests include wireless and multimedia networks, 5G communications, software-defined networks, wireless ultra-low latency communications networks, fog computing, edge computing, and next-generation Internet of Things services.
